Hello! My name is Magdalena Myszkowska.

I graduated from the State High School of Fine Arts in Krosno and the Faculty of Art at the University of Rzeszów.

I mainly work with oil painting.

About my paintings

Jackson Pollock once said: “Painting is self-discovery. Every good artist paints what he is.”

The image of the Polish countryside, its forests, fields, meadows, and orchards, is an inseparable part of me. Blooming trees, wildflowers, poppies and cornflowers, daisies, peonies, daffodils, tulips, rose bushes, jasmine… they enchanted me from childhood and still move me deeply.

Nature is the most talented artist, and I never cease to admire it. It inspires me and stimulates my creativity. It nourishes my senses and soothes my soul. You only need to come close to it to see its perfect beauty and feel its healing power.

When I paint flowers, I feel closer to an absolutely wonderful energy. I stand before a blank canvas like before the gate to a secret garden, eager to see what will appear. I pour the paint and watch what reveals itself to my eyes. The white of the canvas disappears, as if snow were melting in spring. The flowing paint creates the painting. I simply observe, hardly interfering, waiting. Once a full outline emerges, I instantly see what has “bloomed.” I then grab a brush to emphasize shape and color.

Coincidence is a co-author of my paintings, which makes them more spontaneous, uncontrived, and unforced. What is created beyond my control, I can interpret freely. When I recognize something in an accidental stain, I become more than just a reproducer. I don’t copy nature. I create paintings inspired by it, composed from my own sensitivity.

My works are infused with pure, intense color. Contrasts, flat color patches, and black outlines are what make them stand out.
